Fold-out nature guide amphibians Costa Rica
This Rainforest Publications guide covers amphibians found across Costa Rica. When folded, the illustrated guides are only approx. 9 cm by 22 cm and easily fit into your pocket. The illustrations are made by British naturalist, Mark Wainwright, who has lived and worked in Monteverde, Costa Rica, since the early 90's. Each illustration is accompanied by the English, Latin and Spanish name. Amphibian measurements shown are approximate maximum lengths (not including salamander tails). Sizes of frogs and toads generally apply to adult females; in most cases male frogs and toads are smaller. The letters after the name represent the distribution in Costa Rica:
- A: amphibians often encountered on the Atlantic side of Costa Rica, below 1500 meters; may be accompanied by N (north) or S (south);
- P: amphibians often encountered on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, below 1500 meters; may be accompanied by N (north) or S (south);
- M: amphibians often encountered in the Costa Rican mountains, above 1500 meters.
